When it comes to planning a Disney vacation, there are numerous factors that need to be taken into account, and one of those factors for some is being able to have access to a microwave in your room
Having a microwave in your room at Disney World trip is an absolute must-have for some, whether it’s for heating up leftovers for late night snacks or warming baby bottles for little ones, being able to add a little convenience to your stay can make a big difference.
So do Disney resorts have microwaves in their rooms?
Some Disney World Resorts offer microwaves in rooms, such as family suites at Disney’s Art of Animation and cabins at Fort Wilderness, which come with kitchenettes or full kitchens. Other resorts offer microwaves in studio rooms, villas or bungalows. Additionally, all Disney World resorts have microwaves in dining halls and guests can request one for their room, subject to availability.
That answer may come as a bit of a surprise! I know it was for me.

Which Disney Resort Hotels have microwaves in the room
To make choosing easier, I have put together a list of all the Disney World Resorts and room types that provide resort amenities like this.

Value Resorts
When it comes to budget resorts, there are two options that offer family suites with kitchenettes that include mini-fridge, sink, microwave, and coffee maker.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
Of all the value resorts available at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, the only one to have a microwave included in the room is Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Family Suites. 10All Family Suites (Lion King, Cars, and Finding Nemo) have a kitchenette that includes a microwave, a mini refrigerator, a sink, and a coffee maker
Moderate Resorts
If you are looking for a moderate resort where you can stay and you need a microwave included in your room, your going to look to Fort Wilderness.
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
These cabins offer much more space and privacy compared to traditional hotel rooms, as well as the convenience of having a full kitchen in your room. This full kitchen is equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave so that you can easily prepare meals in the comfort of your cabin.
Deluxe resorts
When it comes to deluxe resorts, there are several options that offer studio rooms or villas with microwaves.
Disney’s Bay Lake Tower
All studio rooms are already equiped with a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker. In addition, all villas have a full kitchen with a microwave included among the other amenities provided.
All of the studio rooms feature a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker, ensuring that visitors have everything they need to start their day off right. For those traveling in larger groups, the resort’s villas provide plenty of space and are equipped with all the necessary amenities, including a full kitchen containing a microwave.
Disney’s Old Key West
All studio rooms come fully equipped with all of the amenities needed to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable; including a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker. Villas also provide all these amenities plus even more luxuries such as a full kitchen with oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and microwave included.
Disney’s Riviera Resort
The studio rooms provide the basics with a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker. Guests looking for something more extensive can opt for the villas which come equipped with a full kitchen featuring a microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The three-bedroom villas come with additional amenities such as a double refrigerator, stove, and pantry for those needing additional space and equipment for meal preparation.
Disney’s Saratoga Springs
Studio rooms offer all the essential kitchen amenities such as a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker for easy meal preparation or snack storage. For those who want a more comprehensive cooking experience, villas provide full kitchens along with the mentioned microwave.
Deluxe resort villas
For those looking for a deluxe villa resort, there are several options that offer villas with fully-furnished kitchens with a microwave.
Boulder Ridge Villas at Wilderness Lodge
Boulder Ridge Villas at Wilderness Lodge boasts fully-furnished kitchens in every villa, equipped with modern and convenient amenities. The kitchen includes a microwave, a stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher.
Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Wilderness Lodge
Each villa and cabin is fully-furnished with a kitchen that is equipped with an array of modern appliances including a refrigerator, stovetop, and microwave.
Polynesian Villas and Bungalows
Each villa and bungalow is fully-furnished with a kitchen complete with appliances such as a microwave, allowing you the freedom to prepare your own meals while enjoying your stay.
Grand Floridian Villas
All villas are fitted with a fully-furnished kitchen, which includes a microwave, refrigerator, stovetop, oven and dishwasher to make meals during your stay easy and hassle-free.
Request a microwave be added to your room
If none of these options will work for you, all hope is not lost! It’s still possible that you can still get a microwave in your room by giving the Disney Cast Members a chance to work a little magic.
While not all of the rooms are equipped with one, you can request that a microwave is added to your room.
What you need to do contact the resort and make this request, and the Cast Members will do their best to accommodate it. Of course, they cannot guarantee that every request will be fulfilled but they are always willing to try!
If a microwave is not able to be provided in your room, don’t worry, microwaves are available at the food courts located at each resort hotel during operating hours. So you can still heat up your favorite meals and snacks no matter where you are staying!
Can you bring your own microwave to a Disney Resort Hotel?
Unfortunately, bringing a microwave into any of the Disney World resorts is not allowed due to safety concerns. This rule applies for all types of microwaves, whether it’s a large household version or a smaller portable version. This is in place for the safety of the guests and staff and to help ensure that all electrical appliances found on-site are inspected and maintained by qualified technicians.
Remember though, although you may not be able to bring in your own personal microwave, resorts offer shared communal microwaves located in dining halls as well and you can request one be brought to your room on first-come first-serve basis.
Final thoughts
Yes, some Disney World Resorts do have microwaves available for guests, but they’re not as plentiful as you might think. You can book a family suite at Disney’s Art of Animation, or The Cabins at Fort Wilderness have microwaves in the room as part of a kitchenette or full kitchen.
Other resorts such as Bay Lake Towers, Old Key West, Riviera, Saratoga Springs, Boulder Ridge Villas at Wilderness Lodge, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian Villas and Bungalows and Grand Floridian Villas have microwaves in studio rooms, villas or bungalows.
Virtually all Disney World resorts offer microwaves in the dining hall for all guests to use and it’s also possible to request a microwave for your room, but requests are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
